Full Job Description

We are looking for Allotment Officer.

Overall purpose of the post:

Under the direction of the Building and compliance manager ensure the effective management and maintenance of Allotments and Service assets in line with Council procedures and strategies. Provide support and assistance to other teams within Team as and when required.

Key tasks of the post:

In consultation with the Building and Compliance manager proactively manage, inspect, and maintain Allotments and service assets, which fall within the remit of the section:

Provide a documented coordinated inspection service of Allotment sites, buildings, and open space, which fall within the remit of the Section.
Issue improvement notices and notification of re-entry to tenants who are not maintaining allotment gardens to the required standard.
Ensure that gardens which are relinquished or the subject of re-entry are re-let at the very earliest opportunity.
Action repairs arising from inspections and third party reports of defects.
Raise invoices, repair orders and monitor budgetary spend.
In consultation with others ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and insurance requirements relating to assets under the control of the section.

To assist with the development and maintenance of site management plans.
To understand and ensure the delivery of the key performance indicators within the service area.
Seek funding for the development and maintenance of existing and new allotment sites in line with council priorities.
To develop, review and maintain management plans for all allotment sites and allotment service.
Develop and maintain partnerships with Allotment associations, Volunteers and Friends of groups.
Arrange meetings and formulate action plans arising from User forums.
Liaise with Area Management to develop a co-ordinated approach to site management.

Assist with the management of databases associated with the function:
Service existing database systems
Introduce and service new database systems
Assist with research and monitoring information
Ensure compliance with audit requirements

Provide support to other teams across Asset Management as and when required.

Good general standard of education
At least 2 years experience of working with the public.
Experience of collating statistical data and producing reports.
Budgetary management experience
Full current driving license.
Excellent communication skills.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Good organisational skills
Able to use IT e.g. Microsoft Office

Work is very much site and office based due to the nature of the role however there are opportunities for hybrid / home working if service requirements are met.
