Due to the appointment of a new Principal for September 2024, we are looking to appoint an Assistant Principal to join a restructured senior Leadership team, to take Nova Hreod Academy into the next phase of its development. Roles and responsibilities are to be discussed and will be based on the strengths and experience of the successful candidate. As part of the application please add a letter of no more than two sides of A4, outlining why you would wish to join the team at Nova Hreod Academy and what impact you have had in your current role'

Nova Hreod Academy is a school with a track record of continuous improvement. Our school ethos is rooted in our DISC values of Drive, Integrity, Scholarship and Contribution. As our students develop these attributes during their time with us, they move towards adulthood, better prepared to take on the challenges they will face. We want all our students to flourish academically and personally in an aspirational and supportive environment.

We guarantee structures which enable disruption free learning in every lesson. We have a highly supportive and hands-on SLT who take responsibility for creating a culture which is calm and respectful. We have a dedicated team of non-teaching, pastoral and SEN staff working with SLT and teachers to support pupils.

Our house system, student leadership opportunities, Nova Charter and SuperNova extra-curricular programme ensure our students have an extensive range of opportunities to develop character, demonstrate compassion and contribute to the community.

We are looking for a conscientious, dedicated Assistant Principal who share the vision and ethos of Nova Hreod: to ensure that every pupil is able to flourish academically and personally in an aspirational and supportive environment.

  • is a dynamic leader and teacher with high expectations and a commitment to improvement

  • has a clear vision, energy and commitment to all aspects of school life

  • is a well-qualified, excellent teacher with experience of curriculum development

  • would act as a model of our values of drive, integrity, scholarship and contribution

  • would demonstrate excellent organisational and inter-personal skills and the ability to lead in a team

  • has a desire and passion to make a real difference to the lives and life-chances of our students

  • Nova Hreod Academy can offer you more pay, more time and more support. Teach with United Learning for a more rewarding career.
  • a rigorous whole-school behaviour policy effectively supported by the senior leadership team.

  • enthusiastic, friendly and well-behaved students who deserve the very best teachers

  • hardworking, dedicated and enthusiastic colleagues

  • a commitment to the wellbeing of our staff

  • an exceptional salary, above the maintained sector by 5% on average

  • supportive leadership and a committed Governing Body

  • a superb building with state-of-the-art facilities

  • Cash towards medical treatment

  • At least one personal day a year

  • Three extra INSET days for wellbeing

  • If you are looking for the next step in your career, and would like to find out more, please email Sonja Unwin (Interim Headteacher) on email removed. She will arrange a visit or an informal call to talk about the role.

Please note we reserve the right to close the vacancy early in light of a large response.

Nova Hreod Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call 'the best in everyone'.
