Full Job Description

Kirkham Health Centre have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our practice. We are looking for a clinical coding assistant/administrator for 25 hours per week, across Monday to Friday., The main duties of this role comprise:

Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary.

Accurately clinically coding data into the patient records.

Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports.

Filing and storing records as required.

Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner.

Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records.

Summarising new patients medical records.

Processing new patient registrations.

Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels., Clinical Coding Assistant/Administrator:

To be responsible for coding of relevant information into patients electronic healthcare records on EMIS clinical system, adhering to the Correspondence Management Policy.

Process incoming emails into the practice generic email read coding to patient electronic record, responding to patients and external stakeholders.

Provide administrative support to the senior management team (operations & practice managers).

The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

a. Accurately clinically coding data on EMIS into the patient record.

b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action.

c. Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports.

d. Photocopying documentation as required.

e. Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner.

f. Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records.

g. Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary.

h. Summarising new patients medical records.

i. Processing new patient registrations.

k. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.

l. Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.

Secondary Responsibilities:

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the clinical coder may be requested to:

d. Support reception staff, providing cover during staff absences - Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately, Book appointments

To be considered for this position you must have outstanding IT and administrative skills, the ability to analyse and interpret clinical documents letters, discharge summaries, etc., work autonomously and maintain confidentiality.

Previous experience of clinical coding and/or administration in a healthcare or GP practice setting is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
