An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Chief Operating Officer's team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post-holder will be responsible for leading the Corporate Elective Pathway Team and will support our Clinical Divisions to deliver on a challenging yet exciting Elective recovery agenda. This is a real chance for a talented and ambitious leader to influence patient experience and outcomes at a Trust level in an organisation with an excellent track record in delivery of Elective access.
As an experienced leader, you will bring a well-developed track record of operational delivery in a complex acute setting alongside expertise in performance improvement and clinical transformation. Knowledge of Elective pathways is an advantage; however the ability to influence across a large organisation, build effective relationships and drive change is more important in this key leadership role. You will also work closely with partners across the ICS and will be supported by an established team with great working relationships across the Trust.
For an informal chat: Contact Ola Bamidele or Karen-Anne Holliday x80241) to arrange a call with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Elective), Supporting the Chief Operating Officer's Team and the Divisional Leadership Teams, the post holder will have operational responsibility for the Elective Pathway Team and will work with Divisions to ensure that all Elective performance targets including waiting lists, finance, workforce and service improvement targets are achieved. The post-holder will actively contribute to service integration and to the development of services, both corporately and across the Divisions and, where appropriate, the wider Nottinghamshire health and social care system.
As Corporate Elective Pathway Lead, the post-holder will work as part of a dynamic team responsible for the development and delivery of Elective access target plans, in conjunction with overseeing the implementation of the Trust's Elective recovery and restoration plan, leading key operational and strategic improvements. This is a significant and varied role requiring an inspirational leader who can work closely with clinical and corporate colleagues, both within the Hospital and across the wider local health and care system., To provide visible inspirational leadership so that all staff in the Elective Pathway Team and those managing Elective pathways across the Divisions are engaged and motivated to support safe and effective patient care
To foster a culture that promotes openness and where people have the confidence to speak up ensuring that communication mechanisms are operating effectively in the Elective Pathway Team and across the Divisions
To foster a climate of innovation and improvement for all services in the Elective Pathway Team and across the Divisions, including encouraging staff to identify further opportunities for improvement
To support the Deputy Chief Operating Officer in the delivery of the strategic plans for the Elective Pathway ensuring they are consistent with the aims and objectives of the Trust and ensure that the plans fully reflect the service needs of the Trust
To line-manage the Elective Pathway Team, as appropriate
To deputise for the Deputy Chief Operating Officer on matters relating to Elective performance and more broadly, as required
Operational Performance:
To work collaboratively with all Divisions to support improvements in Elective pathways and performance
To work with clinicians to ensure that professional staff have an opportunity to influence the management, planning of and development of Elective pathways
To be responsible for daily operational management of the Elective Pathway Team including performance, quality, finance and workforce KPIs
In conjunction with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, to take responsibility for key elements of modernisation/transformational/productivity projects, including service re-design and any associated workforce change requirements
To support the Deputy Chief Operating Officer with the development and maintenance of robust performance management systems to support each specialty to deliver their operational performance standards
To hold specialties to account for the delivery of Elective performance targets
To oversee the production of regular performance monitoring data and papers for the Divisions, trust committees and external stakeholders and to take early action to ensure that action plans are in place to address any shortfalls
To support Divisions to formulate business cases for service and capital development, and to lead the deployment of external funding to improve Elective pathways
To lead achievement of all Elective operational targets, focusing on improving patient care and developing new ways of working
To develop action plans to improve performance and to sustain performance across all key Elective access targets
To oversee the budgetary management, financial turnaround and FEP plans across the Elective Pathway Team
Staffing:
To ensure all non-clinical staff undertake the prescribed Trust induction programme and undergo appropriate refresher training
To ensure line managers adhere to HR policies and performance indicators
To undertake regular reviews of staffing levels in the Site Team to ensure that the right number of staff with the right skills is in place to deliver current and predicted future activity
To write business cases or workforce change papers to implement any shifts in staff demand
To complete the Elective Pathway Team's non-clinical workforce planning and training needs documentation
Trust-wide:
To ensure compliance with Trust HR policies and processes, including recruitment, performance management and training for their team
To support the investigation of complaints and incidents within the Elective Pathway Team and to chair hearings, as appropriate
To lead Trust-wide initiatives and projects, as required
To participate in the Silver on-Call rota

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
