Full Job Description

Our Engineering department are looking to fill an engineer vacancy. This role is based in Balliol Business Park (NE12 8EW), working 36 hours per week (6am-6pm Fri-Sun). The purpose of this role is to be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of packaging machinery and equipment. This role involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment, to minimize downtime and maintain the efficiency of the packaging process. Engineers should collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and implement improvements in the packaging operations.,

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment across all areas of the Balliol Manufacturing site

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and issues

  • Collaborate with production teams to address urgent issues and minimize downtime

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and pneumatic issues in a timely manner

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene in Engineering areas to ensure food safety standard compliance

  • Implement contingency plans to maintain packaging operations during unforeseen events

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and equipment history

  • Execute repairs and replacement defective equipment parts to minimize downtime

  • Calibrate and adjust machinery to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the packaging process

  • Keep an inventory of spare parts and maintain stock levels

  • Identify opportunities for improvements in machinery performance, and collaborate with other teams to implement enhancements

  • Participate in root cause analysis to address recurring issues and prevent future breakdowns

  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, during equipment setup and changeovers

  • Engage with equipment manufacturers for technical support and training

  • Assist and support Production to ensure efficient and continuous running of lines

  • Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards

  • Collaborate with other teams to implement and maintain safety procedures

    Minimal ONC in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or a related field orequivalent experience

  • Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of packaging and/or production machinery

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic systems. A general understanding of electrical principals would also be desirable

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
