Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Operative to join our team. As a General Operative, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facility.

As a general operative, you will be responsible for keeping the wheels moving in the UKs largest remanufacturing centre for domestic appliances. Each year, our Midlands' site accepts more than 250,000 white goods, ranging from washing machines to fridge freezers. Our role in the UK waste management supply chain, is to handle and capture appliances for the purposes of preparing to reuse, rather than shredding and recycling them.

Duties covered under the wider definition of general operative, include drivers' mate, yard work, booking-in and sales support, with a general theme of moving appliances from A to B, as safely as possible (for both operative and product).

The organisation has a great track record of internal development, with plenty of opportunities which grow from a general operative base. Roles in goods, vehicle driving, engineering and administration are natural progressive lines, in addition to extensive training for personal development.

2. Transferring stock throughout the process, driven by production/ sales demand pull

3. The use of hand-tools to perform tasks (pallet-trucks, sack-trolleys, pallet banding) - training provided.

4. Taking responsibility for own health and safety, as identified by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Section 7.

5. Open approach to learning/ training opportunities, to help develop own skillset and increase flexibility across departments.

6. Appropriately handling goods, in a manner which reduces damage and increased reuse opportunities - (i.e. - not on the front fascia).

7. Responsible for general housekeeping for workspace for the purposes of good order, discipline and compliant working environments.

8. Other tasks, as identified and needed within the wider site operation, where the operative has appropriate training to do so.

Previous warehouse experience is desired. Fork-lift truck licence is also desirable.
