Full Job Description

NOTE: Travel required across the UK as needed; including regular visits to our office in Southampton.

How you will contribute:

  • Full case management of ER issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, short- and long-term sickness absence and individuals on medical restrictions

  • Liaison with all relevant stakeholders within the business including management at all levels, , occupational health, Union and other teams as appropriate

  • Dealing and responding proactively and efficiently to various HR queries

  • Recruitment, selection and coordination

  • Using HRIS (Oracle) to access, input, compile, and review data

  • Monitoring, reviewing, and updating HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation and best practice

  • Coaching and supporting managers and other members on the HR team

  • Supporting local, regional and global HR projects and initiatives Identifying and addressing training and development needs of your client base

If so, DP World London Gateway are recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor on a 14 month Fixed Term contract. You will manage employee relation matters and support with the full employee lifecycle. To be successful you will need an excellent knowledge of Employment Law and have experience dealing with Employee Relations to enable you to support the Operational side of the business. You'll be advising on investigations, performance management, absence management, and managing disciplinary and grievance cases.


  • You'll be detail-orientated, articulate, confident, resilient, and proactive with exceptional interpersonal skills to succeed in this role. You'll have the ability to work collaboratively with the wider HR team, Union, Occupational Health and your allocated business areas. Whilst it can be demanding at times, you'll be able to deal with pressure and challenges with ease. You'll be forward thinking in terms of HR processes and systems and able to keep up with pace and change whilst ensuring accurate processes are followed accurate records are kept.,
  • CIPD qualified or have comparable experience

  • Professional but down to earth

  • System-savvy

  • Able to maintain strict confidentially

  • Proactive and driven for results

  • Able to advise and built relationships at all levels of the organisation

  • Excited to work in a fast paced and complex environment

  • Practical and logical; able to solve problems quickly and efficiently

  • You will have:
  • Proven work experience as an HR advisor or similar role within an operational environment

  • Experience working with Unions

  • A solid understanding of working with Occupational Health

  • Strong communication and English skills

  • Attention to detail and organised

  • Demonstrable experience carrying out recruitment and selection processes in an operational environment

  • In depth understanding and experience handling employee relations matters

  • Previous experience in developing strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders

  • Experience working in an operational environment

  • Experience managing complex ER cases

  • An affirmed understanding regarding CIPD best practice and UK employment legislation

  • Experience working across the full employee lifecycle

  • A full UK driving licence Eligibility to work in the UK
