Owing to the expansion of our Built Environment business we have exciting opportunities for highly motivated project management professionals to join our fast-growing teams across our Sheffield and Leeds offices. As Project Manager you will demonstrate a passion to work collaboratively with our client teams to deliver their complex projects to time, cost and quality with a commitment to safety, sustainability and positive social outcomes.
Overview of role
What you will contribute to the team;

  • Ownership of and responsibility for the successful delivery of your project

  • Development and delivery of business cases, reports and tender documents.

  • Preparing and maintaining schedules, including dependencies and resources.

  • Identifying and monitoring project risks and opportunities.

  • Quality management processes for project activities and outputs

  • Managing multiple stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.

  • Establishing and maintaining project governance reviews, including responsibility for internal projects controls, such as work breakdowns, budgeting, risk management and earned value analysis.

  • Developing and managing teams, including coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Tracking and reporting of management information, such as compiling reports, tracking budgets and invoices.

  • Managing suppliers and contracts.

    The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.
    The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management.
    Our buildings portfolio is primarily a UK business working in both the public and private sector of the construction market. We provide cost and project management services for a wide range of clients including central government, local authorities and private clients. We work in the majority of buildings market sectors with focus on healthcare, cities and government sectors. Projects include hospital redevelopment, workplace, residential, law and order, education, retail, sports and commercial property.   • Educated to degree level and/or hold a project management qualification (e.g. PPQ, PMQ, Prince2)

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors and with different clients.

  • Ability to work from assigned office at least twice a week.


  • Desirable
  • Proven track record in project delivery across RIBA stages.

  • Ability to work with and manage external suppliers.

  • Commercial awareness.

  • Stakeholder engagement and management.

  • Working knowledge of project management software and toolsets., APM PMQ level qualified or equivalent (e.g. Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE2 Practitioner)

  • Membership to one of the following: Member of the Association of Project Management (MAPM), Chartered Institute for Building (CIOB) and/or Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)

  • NEC ECC Accredited Project Manager
