Are you passionate about ensuring that every child in Southwark has access to high-quality, nutritious school meals?, We are looking for a Public Health Programme Manager for School Food. This role will play a key part in our Southwark School Meals Transformation Programme - an ambitious, comprehensive approach to ensure all our school meals are of high quality and good value., This is an exciting opportunity to join the Southwark Council as the Public Health Programme Manager for School Food to develop and strengthen school food procurement practices across the borough:

  • Improve nutritional quality and consistency of school meals across Southwark

  • Establish a more stable and managed school food system and optimise the Council and school leverage to better realise the potential benefits from economies of scale

  • Enhance social value through job creation for local people, the introduction of London Living Wage and supporting the local economy

  • Realise the opportunities for meeting the Council's food security, environmental sustainability and climate emergency agenda

  • Ensure school food adheres to public health grant conditions

    We are looking for a motivated, experienced, and resilient individual to work with Get Help to Buy for Schools (Department for Education), schools, caterers and other stakeholders across the borough of Southwark to improve the nutritional quality and take-up of school food. You must have strong and proven procurement strategy, contract management and programme management skills and the ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders. Experience of managing food service and ingredients suppliers and supplier performance is desirable.
