Full Job Description

This Role is the senior project management/ programme lead for an anticipated major border control contract with UK Government that relates to airports around the UK.

The Implementation aspect of this anticipated contract is anticipated to last 4 to 5 years.

As the Programme Lead you will have the overall responsibility for managing the entire implementation from end to end and in ensuring the overall delivery is on-time, to budget and meeting both customer and Thales expectations.

You will be the main interface to the customer and will have the rest of the dispersed project team including 3rd parties reporting into you on a day-to-day basis.

You will build and own the master project plan and ensure that activities comply with contractual commitments.

You will ensure the proper acceptance of the project by the customer.

Education/Certification:

  • Degree Level Qualification in a suitable subject is desirable.

  • Prince 2 or similar Project Management Qualification

  • Must have or be able to get UK Security Check Clearance


  • Experience Level:
  • 10 years experience of leading complex projects successfully

  • Proven track record of delivering results in a pressurised environment.

  • Experience of working as a Supplier Project Manager with UK Government/ UK Home Office

  • Experience of working on large integration/ deployment projects related to airports/sea ports/ rail ports.

  • Experience of working on complex integrated HW and SW Deliveries.

  • Experience of managing workpackage teams across multiple locations- both in and outside UK


  • Technical /functional skills:
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills.

  • Strong Communication and Negotiation skills

  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Project

  • Strong Governance/ process mindset

  • Contract Management
