Full Job Description

Terms and Conditions: Permanent, Full time, 37 Hours per week, In return, you will receive 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. After 5 years continuous local government service you will receive 31 days leave plus Bank Holidays. We offer an excellent pension schemes where you can also make additional voluntary contributions. We are looking for someone who has a proven ability to management performance and develop innovation and continuous improvement. You will have a strong business acumen and experience of managing and leading a team in an operational setting. You must also have a good knowledge of health and safety, coupled with the ability to understand and interpret information to analyse performance, including selecting and committing to the best course of action whilst recognising and evaluating options and risks. You will also be an excellent communicator across all levels and medias.

Here at Blackburn with Darwen we are really proud of our Highways Operations Team, who deliver a range of front line services that are of significant importance to the residents and businesses within the Borough. Those services include defect repairs, street lighting, winter maintenance, footway resurfacing, capital improvement schemes, gulley cleaning programme and traffic management.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team and provide management and leadership to the Highways Operations Team to enable that team to continue to provide an excellent frontline service to residents and businesses within the Borough.

You will form part of the extended management team within Highways and Transport, reporting directly to the Head of Highways and Transport. You will be accountable for the managers within the services and the operational staff who deliver these key services.
