Full Job Description

Our blending department are looking to fill a team leader vacancy. This role is based in Balliol Business Park (NE12 8EW) and Tyne Tunnel Site (NE29), working 38 hours per week alternating 6am-2pm Mon-Thu, 6am-12pm Fri and 2pm-10pm Mon-Thu,12pm-6pm Fri. The purpose of this role is to be responsible for maximising blending efficiencies by effective use of resources whilst maintaining product quality to achieve customer requirements.

The key duties and responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Ensure the weekly production program is completed on time

  • Ensure correct set up of blending in terms of people, materials and specification

  • Optimise staffing levels to ensure efficiency, food safety, H&S and product quality

  • Optimise tea usage to prevent waste

  • Minimise downtime and identify areas to improve efficiency

  • Ensure products are manufactured safely and to specification

  • Ensure start up procedures and specifications are robustly followed to prevent non- conforming products

  • Ensure staff are adequately trained in systems and procedures to guarantee to products are safe and to specification

  • Conduct regular reviews of health & safety and food safety in production environment to improve performance

  • Ensure that blending staff are managed efficiently and are trained to the required standard to meet food safety, health & safety and customer requirements

  • Communicate the needs of the business with all staff using notice boards and briefings and regular appraisal

  • Liaise with Blending Manager / Tasting Department to identify key areas where further training is required

  • Identifying skill gaps, production requirements and opportunities within the blending environment

  • Determine training needs, internal / external if required to ensure staff are fully trained to fulfil their roles

  • Coach production team to improve their individual performances

  • Use efficiency and variance information to identify and help justify resource requirements

    Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Accuracy and organisation, ability to prioritise effectively

  • Proactive and solution-orientated
