Full Job Description

  • To safely carry out the cylinder filling activity at the depot to ensure customer requirements are met, which includes:

  • Sorting cylinders and carrying out pre-fill checks

  • Operating cryogenic pumps and vacuum pumps

  • Connecting cylinders to fill points

  • Filling pure gas and gas mixtures to required pressures and compositions

  • Carrying out post-fill checks


  • Moving cylinders around the depot using lifting equipment and fork lift trucks

  • Load checking outgoing and incoming vehicles

  • Facilitating customer collections

  • Analysing finished product for compliance with specification

  • Receiving incoming product

  • Raising operational issues which affect the manufacturing capability or the product purity to supervisor/manager

  • Being vigilant during periods of high yard activity to ensure incidents are avoided

  • Carrying out required maintenance/safety checks such as daily fork-lift checks and scale checks.

  • Taking on additional duties as allocated by the manager/supervisor such as vehicle loading and stock counts

  • Covering all duties of the supervisor as allocated by supervisor/manager


  • Principal Accountabilities

    Product:
  • Ensure that all activity is performed to the operating procedures

  • Maintain high standards of production to prevent contamination

  • Perform analytical requirements


  • Depot:
  • Ensure that systems are operated safely and efficiently

  • Report all operational faults as they arise


  • Cylinder:
  • Cylinder handling and loading of pallets

  • Cylinder inspection, cleaning and painting, labelling and minor cylinder repairs


  • EHS Management:
  • Know and maintain safe work procedures and practices, in particular yard safety, oxygen cleanliness and cylinder movements, inspection and filling.

  • Report all incidents, injuries, damage to equipment/property, environmental releases and near misses. Participate in incident investigations.

  • Stop, correct, and report hazards or unsafe acts.

  • Know and understand your individual EH&S responsibilities.

  • Know and comply with all necessary legal and company safety and environmental standards

  • Know and comply with the EH&S requirements of your job and follow EH&S instructions of supervisors and managers.

  • Maintain good housekeeping standards.

  • Ensure that your actions or omissions do not create unacceptable safety and health risks to yourself or others

  • Report any concerns about the company's safety or environmental control measures

  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment as dictated by the task and work area

  • Minimise environmental impact of operations through reducing waste, emissions and energy efficiency

  • To actively attend, participate and engage in EHS training as required.

  • Attend and participate in EH&S meetings and assist in the development of EH&S goals and objectives.

  • Make EH&S improvement suggestions and assist in development and completion of safe work methods.

  • Give full support to the EH&S Management System


  • Quality Management:
  • Ensure all quality documentation is completed

  • Ensure analytical instrument calibration checks are carried out

  • Report all occasions of product failing to meet specification

    Good level of numeracy and literacy skills

  • Operational background from within a relevant industry

  • Ability to follow procedures accurately

  • Ability to drive fork lift trucks in a safe and efficient manner

  • Knowledge of company safety and operating procedures

    £11 - £12 an hour - Temp to perm, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract
