Full Job Description

Reporting to the Principal Officer - Mechanical Engineering, the Building Services Engineer - Mechanical, will lead in developing and delivering an integrated mechanical services function for the overall Merseytravel / LCRCA estate including tunnels, bus stations, Ferries terminal buildings, HQ building within a matrix structure (utilising either internal or external resources as appropriate) with particular focus and expertise in HVAC systems.

Key role and responsibilities:

  • Lead a project team to deliver an effective and efficient mechanical systems maintenance function for the organisation.


  • Develop and deliver refurbishment and renewal programmes for plant and equipment.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to improve efficiency and operational availability, and decarbonisation of the estate.

    Educated to HNC/HND level in a relevant discipline.


  • Delivery of projects in a mechanical related environment, in particular HVAC plant, BMS control systems, compressors and pressurised mechanical systems, and passenger lifts.
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.


  • Experience of procuring and managing external consultants and contractors.Effective organisational skills.Competent in the use of programme and project management tools and techniques.A commitment to the LCR and an understanding of its stakeholders.Experience of contributing to a high-performance culture
  • Experience of delivering capital works programmes.

  • Computer literate with a high degree of ICT skills.

  • A current full driving licence (manual vehicles)
