Full Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Caretaker based at a prestigious mixed use residential and commercial development in Sheffield's city centre. Built over 5 separate blocks, including external courtyard areas, the site is home to both professional and student residents. The full time position will ordinarily be 30-40 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday, with breaks for lunch. However, some flexibility will be required in order to cover the daily / weekly tasks. The successful candidate will also be available for emergency evening and weekend call outs, as required.

This role is central to providing residents and users of the estate with a friendly, clean and safe environment to live and work in. Candidates with a background as a caretaker, or handyman / maintenance operative or other similar roles will be able to bring relevant skills accompanied with a great attitude, to contribute to the well established team on site.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of customer care and have good communication skills, you will be dealing with residents on a daily basis and it's really important to build great relationships. You should be able to work unsupervised and use your own initiative to solve problems.

The main duties include:
- Maintaining upkeep of all external areas on site
- Maintaining all refuse collection areas and bin chutes
- Directing / accompanying contractors around the site
- Portering duties, including moving of furniture when required
- Taking & recording meter readings
- To undertake painting where / when required
- To undertake window cleaning where / when required
- Gritting external surfaces as and when appropriate
- Carrying out small-scale repairs
- Reporting any antisocial behaviour
- Reporting Health and Safety issues
