Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS) UK has the largest Projects & Consulting (P&C) practice in CIS - covering all of the CIS portfolio. We work on a range of exciting projects for many different clients across all sectors. The roles of the Data Centre Architect operate with the Cloud & Edge function, focusing on consulting, architecting, designing, building, migrating, and testing platforms and services within the Data centre.

This job description covers the roles of the Cloud/Data Centre Architect. In general, the Architect role will focus on consulting, strategy, architecture, high-level design, and technical leadership.

Your role

The P&C practice in the UK works on a wide range of projects, across a wide range of clients in all sectors. We work very closely across all the Market Units (MUs), fulfilling the Cloud and Infrastructure requirements as they arise.

As a Data Centre Architect, you will get exposure to the following types of projects and roles:

  • Private Public & Hybrid Cloud - architecting, designing, building, and testing Cloud platforms. Often large and complex projects, with inputs from multiple technologies and domains (compute, network, storage, availability, scalability, operability, monitoring, security).

  • Cloud Migration - analysis, approach, and plan that supports the migration of workloads from one Data Centre/Cloud environment to another Data Centre/Cloud environment.

  • Data centre Infrastructure; new deployments, refresh and upgrade projects


  • Experience and evidence of working on large-scale projects are core to this role.

  • Data Centre Architect should have experience, with evidence of exposure to complex Enterprise Data Centre projects during this time

  • Proven track record in providing design and consultancy covering storage and backup availability, security, scalability, operability, and extensibility

  • Provide technical leadership on the program of work or project, own technical elements on a solution with deployment of an architectural solution within the program

  • Worked on bids and costing of architecture solutions and point of contact to EM (Engagement Management) and Lead Architect relating to technical Architecture

  • Excellent awareness of current IT trends and products. Work within an Architecture governance model with experience working on and delivering complex Cloud, EUC, or Data Centre transformations for large clients

    To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance .

  • To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
