Community Centre Manager (Mixenden Activity Centre)

This role is part of an exciting new opportunity with North Halifax Partnership to explore and establish community use of Mixenden Activity Centre. Mixenden Activity Centre has been a key local asset for many years, and North Halifax Partnership are working with Calderdale Council to explore how use of the building can be increased and diversified to meet the needs of the local community. Currently North Halifax Partnership have a license agreement for use of the centre but have a wider vision for full community ownership, this role will support the realisation of this vision through maximising opportunities for use of the centre, the procurement of funding and establishment of income generation activities.

The role involves:

· Managing the daily operations and maintenance of the centre

· Developing a diverse programme of activity at the centre.

· Establishing strong use by a range of partners including businesses and community groups to create a thriving space.

· Take a key role in seeking out and procuring income generation opportunities to support the future development of the centre., A 'Golden Hello' payment is offered with this post. This means the successful candidate will receive 3 incentive payments over the period of 12 months. The first being paid when their employment starts, the second after completing a successful probationary period and the final payment will be made after 12 months in employment., The VSI Alliance mailing list will receive a weekly e-bulletin with information around local organisations, jobs, funding and news. The list will also receive updates from time to time about the VSI Alliance, its partners and urgent newsflashes.

· Paid or voluntary experience of managing a community building.

· Experience of successfully procuring external funding to support, extend and maintain projects.

· Experience of working with a range of partners including community groups, statutory and business sector

· Experience of managing volunteers and/or staff

£36,500 per annum

(Fixed term for 24 months - with the possibility to extend)
