Full Job Description

The role involves investigating, monitoring and where appropriate taking action against alleged breaches of planning controls in a constrained area which includes Green Belt, AONB and other sensitive environments. You will spend much of your time out and about visiting sites but will also work from home or the office to assess and collate evidence., We understand working for a local authority is more than just a job. Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role., The position requires either experience of enforcement of legislation or working knowledge of Town and Country planning law preferably with some experience relevant to the role. Good communication skills and attention to detail are important.,

  • Vocational qualification or evidence of experience of working to level 3 or 4 relevant to planning practice.

  • Practical experience of working within a planning, regeneration or housing environment, giving rise to a variety of technical skills and sound understanding of the services available, work practices and processes relevant to the role.

  • Knowledge and understanding of technical standards, safe working practices and legislation for planning practice.

  • Ability to make analytical reasoning and recommendations about particular areas of work.

  • Ability to engage with developers, contractors and members of the public within the relevant codes of practice.

  • Ability to present evidence clearly and confidently, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage own work without close supervision
