Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a Facilities Officer to join our friendly and busy team. This is a full time role based at Bridge Road Depot. Working hours are predominantly 8.00 am - 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may be required very occasionally.

Facilities Officers play a key role in delivering services to internal colleagues at the depot. This is a busy and at times challenging role which requires:

  • resilience

  • a very strong customer focus along with exceptional customer service skills

  • the ability to use IT and learn bespoke systems including the ID card system

  • general administration

  • undertaking routine building inspections

  • fire warden duties

  • strong team work and overall, a friendly, warm and approachable manner

  • desire to resolve issues at first point of contact


  • Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Post room activities - managing both incoming and outgoing mail and distributing across the site


  • Undertake routine inspections of all furniture on the site and arrange for maintenance or appropriate disposal and ordering of any new furniture as per the agreed process.


  • Manage the appropriate return/disposal of ICT kit that is no longer used/required and raising ICT requests to repair or replace ICT kit and equipment that is not working or damaged across the site including meeting spaces/rooms


  • General building administration duties.


  • Monitor standards of facilities e.g. building cleaning and window cleaning across the site, ensuring that standards are achieved. Report problems to senior facilities officer or campus manager.


  • General housekeeping of common areas including kitchens, meeting and breakout spaces ensuring these are kept tidy and free of any obstructions.


  • Responsibility for ensuring water dispensers and coffee machines are serviced, maintained and replenished.


  • Identify, record and place work request/orders via the FM Helpdesk for minor repairs, health and safety and identify improvements to the aesthetics of the site to provide a professional and welcoming working environment.


  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety at all times.


  • Coordinate and manage office supplies such as stationery and paper and maintaining a good level of stock at all times.

When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre
    in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
    Newham has a large housing regeneration programme that will build over 1,000 new council homes by 2022.
