General Assistant / Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Cook/General Assistant to join our team. As an Assistant Cook, you will work closely with our culinary team to ensure the smooth operation of our kitchen and provide excellent food preparation and meal assistance. We offer a Sunday carvery working alongside our chef. We would like to start offering Saturday breakfast as well as a lunch menu. The job is combined with the general assistant position to help with bar/waitering/pot washing and all guest requirements within a small complex of letting rooms and self catering units.

Duties:

-Assist with bar work, front of house and all general areas of hotel.
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing breakfast, afternoon teas, light lunches.
- Help with meal preparation, ensuring all dishes are prepared according to recipes and quality standards
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure timely and efficient service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Assist in inventory management, including receiving and storing ingredients
- Support the Head Cook in various tasks as needed

Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Culinary training or certification is a plus,
