Graduate Outsourcing Chemist / Technical Support

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a laboratory staff member to join our Outsourcing Department based at our headquarters in Liverpool, UK. You will be involved in mine site tender management processes, setting up of new laboratory projects globally, commissioning of new laboratory equipment, method development and validation and support routine laboratory operations in the existing commercial and mine site laboratories where necessary. You will also be involved in laboratory equipment troubleshooting before engaging the OEM/ appointed service engineers during the laboratory commissioning stages. A key deliverable of the role is global travel, to support start-up of operations, and post start-up auditing duties in line with AHK policy.

There is an opportunity to join an apprenticeship scheme in support of further education. The successful candidate, depending on their current skills, would embark on a training program to equip them with the necessary technical skills to support our outsourcing aims.

• Interest in developing classical analytical chemistry methods and using analytical equipment such as FAAS, ICP-OES/MS, Carbon/Sulphur Analysers, EDXRF, WDXRF, Spark-OES, Combustion Ion Chromatography.


• Quality focused and detail-oriented individual with interest in ISO 17025:201 accreditation system.


• Ability to multi-task with minimum supervision within specified timescales and deadlines.


• Able to work under own initiative while being highly motivated in leading by example to the project workforce.


• Computer literate.


• Basic understanding of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) will be an added advantage.


• Ability to travel for short to medium term periods.


Required Work Experience


• A minimum of 2-3 years experience working in AHK laboratory


• Completing/Interested in completing Apprenticeship Degree in Chemistry or Chemistry Graduate looking for career advancement.
