The Health and Safety Service provides advice, support and guidance to managers and employees covering all relevant health and safety topics and workplace wellbeing issues.
About the Role
Warwickshire County Council are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced health and safety professional who will work as part of a busy Health and Safety service in an exciting and fast pace authority. You will offer expertise and advice on health, safety & wellbeing standards and strategies and provide assurance about risk management and health and safety legislation.
The post is based in Warwick but travel around the County is expected.
You will be involved in delivering a wide range of health, safety & wellbeing functions including:

  • supporting managers on risk management, health and safety legislation, policy and standards

  • advising staff on their responsibilities for health, safety and wellbeing duties

  • delivery of health & safety audits and workplace inspections

  • reviewing accidents and incidents

  • preparing and delivering health, safety & wellbeing training the review of corporate policies and standards

    Qualification to at least NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

  • Have a membership for the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)

  • Experience of providing professional level health and safety advice and support, preferably within a large, diverse and complex organisation

  • Able-bodied applicants must be able to drive, have a driving license and be a car owner. Disabled applicants should be able to perform the job with aid, where necessary


  • For this role, you'll need to be confident, a good communicator with a wide and varied audience, have a flexible approach to work, be able to meet deadlines, multi task and have excellent IT skills to be able to produce reports, interpret data and deliver advice to suit the audience. You will also need to be able to work under your own initiative and be highly organised.
    This position is suitable for candidates seeking to further their professional career development in health, safety & wellbeing., The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
