This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced HR Business Partner to drive strategic initiatives and partner closely with our Senior Leadership Team to align HR strategies with the Group's overall business objectives. This role emphasises strategic, long term thinking, planning, and execution, with minimal involvement in traditional HR operational tasks.

Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you will have a dedicated partnership with a specific area of the business. Focusing on strategic workforce planning and organisational design, this role involves developing a deep understanding of the people challenges across the group and implementing commercially focussed solutions that drive performance, value for money and employee engagement.

What you could be doing:

  • Working with the Senior Leaders on strategic workforce planning initiatives which enable the Executive Team, Senior Leadership Team, and Senior Managers to identify workforce priorities, forecast talent needs and develop strategies to address potential gaps to ensure a resilient workforce.

  • Proactively analysing data to identify trends, offering solutions and supporting the business in decision making.

  • Supporting organisation design activity for your dedicated business area, enabling alignment of resources to the strategic objectives.

  • Supporting the HR Director, Head of HR and Senior HR Business Partner in the delivery of the HR Strategy and wider People Strategy.

  • Working closely with the Learning & Organisation Development team to ensure that appropriate interventions are developed and provided to address learning and development needs that have been identified.

  • Working with the Resourcing team to provide professional and practical challenge/advice on roles, accountabilities, job descriptions, job evaluation and requests for recruitment activities in your business area.

  • Oversee the post establishment for your directorate, working closely with Finance Business Partners ensuring that recruitment activity and organisational design is in alignment with future scenario planning and headcount budgets

  • Chartered Member of the CIPD or equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience of supporting trade/construction industries or a mobile work force in a similar role would be advantageous.

  • Proven experience of managing complex organisational change projects (such as restructures and TUPE) and working with managers to improve employee engagement.

  • Significant experience of working in partnership with managers at all levels to achieve results

  • Experience of evaluating and analysing data and information to inform business decisions

  • Up to date knowledge of UK employment legislation and ability to apply this in practice.

  • A strong communicator who can build highly effective and collaborative working relationships with employees at all levels.

  • A confident decision maker who offers solutions focussed advice and can understand broader organisational issues.

  • Someone with an appetite to challenge the status quo and operate as an effective change agent.

  • Demonstrable experience of leading HR projects


  • While this role is home based, you should have the ability to travel to Group offices and other locations as required. Our Group offices are located at Birmingham Business Park Solihull and Central Park, Worcester.
