Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Social Work who will contribute to our record of research and teaching excellence. Our undergraduate degree in Sociology draws on the expertise of sociologists in different schools across the university, allowing students to choose from four specialist pathways as they progress through the course.

In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework the School came 4th in the Social Work & Social Policy Unit of Assessment with 90% of the School's research activities (outputs, impact and environment) rated as world leading or internationally excellent (4

  • and 3) and 100% of our impact was rated as world leading. The School is also home to the highly successful Centre for Research on Children and Families.


  • You will have a proven ability to undertake research and provide teaching and support to undergraduate and Master's level students in the discipline of Sociology. You will have a commitment to a multidisciplinary ethos for understanding and teaching Sociology, and the ability to help develop the subject within the university.

    This full-time post is available from 2 September 2024 on an indefinite basis.
