Full Job Description

Great Britain's electricity system is undergoing an ambitious, exciting and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come.

Reporting to the Corporate Property Manager, the Projects Delivery Lead will be responsible for delivering of projects, ensuring quality, safety, value for money, budget adherence and timely completion.

This role holder will work closely with the colleagues in facilities management, liaising with the stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, subject matter experts to progress and lead multiple projects at the same time. The role will part of the procurement team responsible for facilities and property management.

This role involves travel between Warwick, Wokingham, London and other ESO sites as required, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.,

  • Project Management: Plan, execute, and monitor property capex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline ensuring quality and timely completion.

  • Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting. Optimise resource allocation to ensure efficient project delivery.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with the industry standards, health and safety regulations, building regulations, fire safety standards and company policies to deliver high-quality property capex projects.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, manage external consultants, contractors, suppliers, business owners, regulatory authorities and utility partners, to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardisation, and efficiency gains within the property capex project delivery process. Conducting background research, data collection and benchmarking.

  • Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively manage issues that may impact project delivery or quality.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and final project evaluations. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, milestones, financials, and key deliverables.

  • Management of project tasks in a quick and efficient manner.

  • Developing a robust and reliable pool of suitable supply chain contractors.

  • IOSH Managing Safely - minimum.

  • CDM procedure awareness.

  • First and second line Health and Safety assurance awareness.

  • A solid understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to property capex projects.

  • Negotiation skills with a strong focus on value for money, compliance and risk management.

  • Good understanding of governance and applicable regulatory, control frameworks.

  • Prior experience in contract management.

  • Excellent communication (verbal, presentation, written) and stakeholder management skills.

  • Broad understanding of the development lifecycle (business case, design, consents, procurement, delivery, handover, management)

  • Ability to travel between Warwick, Wokingham, London and other ESO sites as required.

  • Becoming the National Energy System Operator
    In Summer of 2024, the ESO will transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator, or NESO for short. Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator will be the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.

    The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users' need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade-offs between them.

    The organisation will be set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As the ESO are today, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all.

    A competitive salary between £50,000 - £59,000pa - dependent on experience and capability.

    As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
