Abbotsholme is a co-educational, boarding and day school set in a large, beautiful estate on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. An exciting opportunity exists for an academic professional to join our vibrant team. The Physics and Mathematics teacher will provide effective and inspirational teaching to our senior school pupils. We are looking for somebody who conveys a profound enthusiasm for their subject and is able to motivate and engage our pupils to feel the same. The role is suitable for experienced candidates and qualified NQTs alike.

Specific responsibilities & Duties

To teach throughout the range of the curriculum including GCSE and ideally A Level

Responsibilities & duties as a teacher

Academic

1. To plan and deliver high quality and inspirational lessons.

2. To set regular assignments (homework) for the pupils, in accordance with the school policy.

3. To provide appropriate feedback for pupils on their work, including regular marking and attendance at parents' evenings.

4. To maintain appropriate records of pupils' progress.

5. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of work and modify planning and teaching as appropriate.

6. To produce periodic reports and assessment grades for pupils, in line with the school schedule.

7. To maintain an attractive learning environment for the pupils.

8. To contribute to or write schemes of work for teaching groups.

9. To follow relevant school and departmental policies, for example the marking policy.

10. To keep abreast of national educational initiatives, debates and best practice within the subject, through attendance at INSET courses, as appropriate.

11. To fulfil specific departmental duties as detailed on the separate role-specific description (see above).

Pastoral

1. To be aware of the physical and emotional wellbeing of the pupils.

2. To promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils, liaising with other staff as necessary, including the School Health Advisor and Safeguarding Team.

3. To understand and implement all welfare and safeguarding policies, such as health and safety, child protection, safety on educational visits and attendance.

4. To fulfil the role of a tutor.

General

1. To attend weekly staff meetings at times organised by the SLT.

2. To share in the rota of break, lunchtime and evening supervision duties, as applicable.

3. To share in the covering for colleagues on short-term absence.

4. To contribute to the provision of extra-curricular activities, including the annual school 'Hikes' and, if needed, participation in a camp, during the summer term.

5. To contribute to the marketing of the school through attending periodic school open days.

6. To undertake any other reasonable requests of the Headmaster.

7. To role model and support the school's Behavioural Charter principles of honesty, integrity, humility, courage and respect.

Salary: - Dependent on qualifications and experience.

Schedule - Monday to Friday (0.8 timetable minimum)

Education - Bachelor's with QTS (preferred)

Work Location - In person
