Full Job Description

Our Motor Trade Underwriting team here at Gallagher are looking for an experienced underwriter to join our team as an Underwriter on a hybrid basis out of our Stretford office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and responding to opportunities to increase the company's insurance income. Additionally, they will require strong technical underwriting knowledge in order to provide technical advice and support to the team.
Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite individual insurance applications to cover Motor Trade risks with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.

  • Determine whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.

  • Frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.

  • May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of the account.

    Strong and proven underwriter experience with a good knowledge of Motor Trade risks.

  • Holding or working towards one of the Chartered Insurance Institute Qualifications, Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII would be an advantage.

  • Property and casualty underwriting knowledge would be beneficial.

  • Working knowledge Microsoft Excel.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
